Patient Update 02.01.2023

The first week back after the festive break is often one of our busiest weeks of the year. January is also often our busiest month.

Please help us to help you by:

Register for the NHS App or use our Surgery website to book routine GP appointments online. This will reduce the volume of calls to reception. It is also possible to request your repeat medications via the App or online access.

Telephone the Surgeries if you have an urgent, same-day need. Be prepared to share some details so we can assess your request and quickly get you to the right healthcare professional that can help you. We have Pharmacists, Paramedics and a Physiotherapist who may also be able to deal with your queries.

Due to a significant increase in demand in recent weeks we have reviewed our balance of urgent on the day and routine appointments. This means we have fewer appointments to book in advance for routine care during the month of January. This has been necessary to ensure that the number of GP patient contacts each day remains manageable and safe. We will keep appointment availability under review to ensure we are doing all we can to best meet the needs of our patients. We will update you as and when we need to make further changes.

Our reception team will be working extremely hard to make sure that appointments are available for those patients most in need. Please remember our team are only human and this week is going to be extra busy. Pllease be kind and know that they are keen to help everyone as best they can even when we run out of appointments.

Our Dispensary at Alconbury is likely to remain busy. Please can we remind patients that our team need at least 3 working days between the requesting and collection of repeat medication.

Thank you for your continued patience, support and kindness.

We wish our patients a happy and healthy New Year.
