Below is information on the various ways we can be contacted, our locations, directions and opening times.

Please be aware that with our new telephone system, all telephone calls are recorded for monitoring and training purposes.

Our New Telephone System

When you call our Surgeries you will now have the following options…

  1. For PRESCRIPTIONS, press 1. – You can leave your repeat request on the answerphone, please allow 3 FULL WORKING working days prior to collection.
  2. For the APPOINTMENTS menu, press 2.
    • Within the appointments menu you will have the following options:
      • For routine appointments, press 1
      • Routine appointments are currently being booked 2 weeks or more ahead
      • For urgent appointments within 2 weeks, press 2
      • For an immediate appointment which requires attention today, press 3. Please be aware that we only have a certain number of urgent appointments every day and we are unable to offer more once these are booked.
      • And to cancel an appointment, press 4.
  3. For SECRETARIES regarding ongoing referrals and insurance reports, press 3. – This enables you to leave a message for our medical secretaries. Please do not leave messages regarding GP appointments, test results or anything else for which you would usually speak to reception as this is option 4.
  4. And last on our main menu for GENERAL ENQUIRIES, press 4.
    • This option is for test results and general queries that our reception team can help with. This should be your default option if you are not sure who to speak with!

Please note that this email should only be used for Non Urgent / Non Clinical Queries, as it is only accessed once a day.

You should allow up to 48 hours for a response.

If you need to cancel an appointment, please telephone the relevant reception team as they can reallocate the appointment slot to another patient.

This short online form is the quickest and simplest way for the majority of our patients to access our team for assistance. Our phone lines remain open for anyone with accessibility needs who might find difficulty completing this form.

Important

Please do not use this online form for urgent or emergency requests. The submitted forms will only be read during office hours.

The forms will not be read on the weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) or on bank holidays.

They will not be read Monday-Friday between the hours of 1700 – 0800.

Extended Access & Out of Hours

Non-urgent advice: Extended Access WCF

Patients of our practice are now able to book routine appointments to be seen by doctors, nurses and healthcare assistants in the evenings and at weekends in Extended Access – a new service provided by West Cambs Federation.  

This service is available to all patients in the A1 PCN, seven days a week in sessions at two hubs:

 Alconbury Surgery, School Lane, Alconbury PE28 4EQ

 Little Paxton Surgery, St Neots PE19 6EY.

To book an appointment contact our reception at:

01480 890281 (Alconbury) / 01480 454050 (Brampton) and we will book your appointment for you.

Non-urgent advice: Out of Hours

Out of surgery hours, between 18:00 and 08:00 the next day and weekends, Urgent Care Cambridgeshire deals with urgent problems that may arise with our patients.

Telephone the surgery directly on 01480 890281(Alconbury) or 01480 454050 (Brampton) and your call will be redirected to the control centre.

You will be asked to describe your problem in detail so that the duty doctor or nurse can be informed and prioritise accordingly. To contact them directly please call 0330 123 9131.

If you need to see someone out of hours, you will be asked to come to the Out of Hours service at Hinchingbrooke Hospital. Whoever deals with the emergency will ensure that the details are passed to your own doctor the next weekday.

Please do not call at night unless your problem really is an emergency and you need urgent help.

NHS 111
111 is the non-emergency NHS number for medical help when it is not a 999 emergency. It is fast, easy and free to call. Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to access an appropriate service.

NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Calls are free from landlines and mobile phones.

Mental Health Crisis – The First Response Service (FRS) in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, gives those in Mental Health crisis the opportunity to get access to help quickly, by calling NHS 111 and selecting the mental health option. As with NHS 111, the service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.
