Appointments Update 12.07.23

We would like to remind patients that Junior Doctors will be on strike this Thursday through to Tuesday am. As an active training Practice with 9 GP Registrars this inevitably impacts the service we deliver at a time when other GPs are on leave.

It is important for our patients to understand that the BMA advice is that in usual circumstances it is perfectly reasonable to expect to wait to see your GP for a routine matter for 2 weeks or more.

More urgent matters should be prioritised for an appointment within a week to ten days.

Urgent ‘on-the day’ appointments should only be used for new problems where the patient is unwell that day and may deteriorate within the next 24 hours if not seen.

Please be honest with our team regarding the clinical priority of your appointment and be willing to share some information regarding your need to be seen. The GPs rely on this information to ensure they are caring for patients in an appropriate and timely manner whilst being as fair as they can to all.

Please be patient with our Reception Teams, they cannot offer what we do not have but will always do the best they can for you.

Thank you
Melanie Gearing
